🎓 KAS Scholarship – Summary for International Students

Who can apply:

  • International students with a university degree (no support for bachelor’s studies).
  • Planning to do a master’s, PhD, or long-term research (min. 4 semesters) in Germany.
  • Must meet the following:
    • Strong academic performance.
    • German language skills (B2 level).
    • Active in voluntary/social work.
    • Politically aware and supportive of democracy and human rights.
    • Motivated and goal-oriented.

Important Notes:

  • Medical/pharmacy students: Apply only after intermediate exams in Germany.
  • No support for medical specialist training or post-doctoral stays.
  • Already have a PhD? → Not eligible.

💰 Financial Support:

  • Master’s/Postgrad: €992/month (usually for 2 years).
  • PhD: €1,400/month (usually for 3 years).
  • Extras:
    • Health insurance: up to €120/month.
    • Family allowance: €276/month.
    • Children’s allowance: €194/month.
    • Course fees: up to €1,500/semester (for study-related fees only).
    • PhD students may also get support for research abroad.

🌍 How to Apply:

Option 1: From Abroad (International Program)

  • 2025 focus: Central Asia (Tashkent), Mongolia, Mexico.
  • Apply through the local KAS office (check their website).
  • Only for students in those countries.

Option 2: If You’re Already in Germany

  • Apply through the KAS Campus Portal online.
  • Deadline: July 15 (noon) each year.
  • No paper submissions accepted.

📄 Documents Needed (Master’s Applicants):

  1. CV (with voluntary/social work details).
  2. Motivation letter.
  3. Exam certificates (translated to German if not in English).
  4. Proof of grades (if already studying in Germany).
  5. Proof of German language skills (B2).
  6. Two recommendation letters:
    • Academic (from professor with PhD).
    • Personal (about values/social commitment – different person).
  7. Admission/enrollment letter from your German university.

Extra for PhD Applicants:

Confirmation of supervision.

Thesis proposal (5–10 pages).

Second academic recommendation (from PhD supervisor).
